Awesome Day

Today was a great day!  All summer I have been looking forward to snagging an entire day away with my oldest daughter, Elise (6).  And today it finally happened!

Here’s what we did:

Breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe DT Naperville with Amanda & the Julia…  Rode the train DT Chicago with Elise… Hopped a water taxi to Navy Pier…  Rode the HUMONGOUS and historic ferris wheel…  Watched and LISTENED (HOLY SMOKES!) to the U.S. Navy Blue Angels rehearsing for the Chicago Air & Water Show that begins this weekend… Spent too much time and money at the giant American Girl Store located in the Magnificant Mile…  Took the redline to Chinatown…  Found a great new tea shop (and potential new writing spot!) where Amanda and Julia (our 2 yr old) met us for an incredible dinner at The Phoenix

Wow, what a day!

  1. Hey Scott! GOOD FOR YOU!!! I am always encouraged when fathers are excited and looking forward to spending lots of time with their kids. Kudos to you for being so involved in your kids’ lives. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen all the time. Also, super kudos to you for doing things that Elise would enjoy. It takes a REAL MAN to spend a lot of time in the American Girl Store. :-)

Sounds like a great day. I love to take each of my kids out separately for big days like that.
