Drive Review

Aug 25, 2005

Yeah, I know…  I’m hot.

We just returned from Atlanta where Amanda and I spent a few days at the Drive Conference hosted by Northpoint Community Church (Andy Stanley, pastor).  I mentioned a couple of posts ago how I’ve become less and less of a fan of large conferences – for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I have been to so many in my life that they’ve almost started to feel the same no matter where I go.

Until this one.

Let me just say that this was, by far, the most creative and well put together pastor’s conference I have ever attended.  Everything was done top notch (from the video transitions – to the music – to the "branding" of the event itself and of course, the leadership challenges that were given – more about that later…) and I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I thought to myself, "WOW.  That was over the top!"

Everything about it was impressive.  And probably the best part about it all was how the material presented was not all about how Northpoint has it all figured out and so everyone should go back and re-create what they experienced.  Everything was so, so practical and the type of stuff that ANY pastor can immediately go back to their church community and begin working on.  I’ll post more about this over the next few days.

Time for bed… Elise’s first day of kindergarten tomorrow!  YIKES!

  1. Wow – you guys start school an entire week earlier than the Minnesota school districts! Can’t wait to hear about all of Elise’s adventures in kindergarten.
I am also looking forward to you sharing more about the conference as well as details concerning the motorcycle you are sitting on in the picture! LOVE IT!!!

  2. Matt says:

Sweet wheels. You need a dew rag and a nice tatoo of a skull or something like that on your arm.
Do you feel like life just entered a new stage with Elise going to school?

  3. Betsy says:

Those flip-flops so do not go with the motorcycle.

  4. Brother Johnson says:

Our son’s comment to his mother on his first day of kindergarten. “Mom, would you believe there are kids who don’t know their color’s yet?”
