Itsy Bitsy Car

Aug 14, 2007

Saw this while driving around today…  It’s cool and ugly both at the same time.  Does anyone have one of these?  What is it?

it looks like a pimped out golf cart

  2. Dave says:

It’s a smart car, although I don’t know how smart it would be driving them in US cities I’ve been in… Saw one in Montreal last week. If memory serves me right, the postal service there was talking about using them…

  3. emma says:

Yep, it’s a Smart car alright… we have loads of these in the UK. They started off as this quirky little thing that noone would ever actually drive, but now so many people have them. I still go through phases with them!

  4. Bryan says:

It looks like a Ford Explorer and a VW bug hooked up and this is the product of their indiscretion.

  5. zach harrod says:

These flood the streets all over the place. They are great when you live in a city like Prague, no worries about parking with it. They actually have a sports car thats a bit bigger and its pretty cool. These are just glorified clown cars, but they get great mileage! Smart just released these in the States. I think they peak out at like 60 mph!

  6. Speaking of clowning and smart cars:
I see them around DC now and then. They are neat cars.

  7. Erik says:

Yep… the smart car. These were everywhere in Toronto. I even saw one on the 401 freeway. It seemed to be exceeding the maximum recomended traveling speeds.

  8. John says:

Smart Car it is. I used to see them road testing these on Angeles Crest Highway before they were officially released in the US this year.
So small, a motorcycle would probably total you out in a wreck!

  9. Charles Cole says:

I saw a bunch of them in England last year.
Also Inspector Clouseau drives one in the remake of The Pink Panther staring Steve Martin, In fact the car is featured so much it was practically a co-star.

  10. Anne Jackson says:

i would say smart car but it seems as if everyone already did…they have some really cool ones in europe…pink ones, sporty ones…amazing.

  11. Johnny Laird says:

As Emma said they’re all over the place in the UK, esp.London – and have been for a few years. Good for bouncing around the hideous traffic that clogs up this city – easy to park blah blah.
    Peace & Blessings

  12. connor says:

yea i will echo the smart car… there are loads of them over here in the UK, you also get a smart coupe…

  13. Jack says:

It’s a Smart, made by Daimler-Chrysler in Boblingen, Germany near Stuttgart (about an hour from where I live). They are all over the place here in Germany. Very economical, but a two-seater with not much room for anything else.

  14. Tim says:

    i want one!

  15. Amber Cox says:

You should get one of those so you’ll always, easily find a parking spot in Chicago!

  16. Isn’t that the car in all of the Wii commercials?

  17. Sam says:

Smart car. they are all over europe. Ok in europe because they have no concept of an SUV overthere. I can see the NYPost headline now. “Smart Car found lodged in Hummer Tire tread.

  18. Tom says:

Driven in the car chanse in “The DaVinci Code.” (I know, Christians aren’t supposed to know about that movie!) Packs of them were driving around Pittsburgh this weekend. Must have been some sort of promotion.
In Paris, I saw them parked in all sorts of funny ways. They make a Mini-Cooper look like an SUV! If you’re in an accident, the door handles double as coffin handles and they just bury you in it.

  19. Doug says:

Actually, for a car it’s size, it does very well in the crash tests. The “body” of the car is all one piece. You can also change the panels on the car if you get tired of the color.

  20. Nathan says:

Dude…Os Guiness wouldn’t care what kind of car that is.

  21. Doug Lake says:

    Smart Car, I don’t think so… It’s a Hot Wheel on Roids!

  22. michael says:

i saw the benz version recently in texas.

  23. I want one so bad – with my church logo wrapped around it – how cool would that be?
