This has got to be one of my favorite albums of all time.  King’s X, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, circa 1989.  Not sure why these guys never made it big, but man….this album is awesome.

One Response to “Now Playing”

  1. I always loved King’s X’ music going all the way back to Out of the Silent Planet. Was excited that they were Christians. Since those early days of listening to their music… much has changed in my life… and much has changed in theirs. Just finished looking at some King’s X interviews discussing their faith… Here’s the link if you want to look They are still amazing musicians… The Beatles meeting Jimi Hendirix sonic blast is unlike anyone else. Doug Pinnick, the charismatic bassist lead singer eventually became disillusioned in his Christianity. I see many disillusioned people coming to my church and looking for answers… and just trying to find a safe place where they can explore their doubts. When he, (Doug) expressed his doubts publicly, he was barraged with hate mail from Christians. To him, that just kind of confirmed the things he was unsure about. He said he saw a lot of people who claimed to be Christians who weren’t living like Christ but expected him to. Interesting stuff. The music is unbelievable… and just thinking about it now makes me want to find a way to reach disillusioned Christians even more… thanks for letting me ramble a bit… may talk more about this on my blog.
