Saturday Nights and Suburban Myths

Oct 19, 2007

Big, big weekend ahead!

First of all, we are really excited about this weekend’s launch of our new worship gathering happening on Saturday evenings at 5:00pm.

We really see this as an important missional step for our church that will help do a couple of things.  One, it’s going to allow us to open our doors to a group of people who, for a variety of reasons, are just unable to ever attend church on Sunday mornings.  Secondly, it’s going to open up more space (seating, children’s space, etc…) for our Sunday morning gatherings.  This is going to be a win for our mission on so many levels.

The other reason this is going to be a big weekend is because we are launching a new, 5-week series entitled, "Suburban Myths."

This is going to be a series that explores how we can learn to live like Jesus in an environment that doesn’t always make that easy to do (think consumerism/self-focus VS. the way of Jesus…).  More on that later.

To help us launch the series and Saturday nights, we recently sent out a mail piece to over 30,000 homes in our immediate area.  These types of cards/mailers have proven to be very effective for us.  I meet people all the time who began attending The Orchard after receiving one of these in the mail.  I love hearing that!

A few of you have asked, so here is a .pdf version of the mail pieces we designed:

Well, it’s my day off (my first Friday off ever) and my 4 shot pumpkin spice latte and New York Times is calling my name.  Along with my 3 year old and 3 month old.  Better go…

Hey Scott, who do you guys use for your mailers? Are they produced/designed in house? Do you use some kind of clearinghouse (think Outreach Marketing) for the actual mailing?

  2. pumkin spice latte??? whoa… perhaps the first time I’ve strongly disagreed with something here. ha.
