Some Travel Thoughts

I love traveling.  I’ve had the opporunity to do a fair amount of travelling throughout the US and am always fascinated by being somewhere different (with of course, a few exceptions…).

I’ve also always been a big fan of travel essays (Bill Bryson, Jonathan Raban, etc…).  There’s something great about visiting a new place through the eyes of someone else who has the ability to capture the sights, sounds, smells and experiences of their visit.
A couple of years ago I read a book by John Steinbeck entitled, Travels with Charlie, which was a book Steinbeck wrote while on a cross country journey with his poodle, Charlie.  It was a fun, quick read and a great way to mentally break away during a hectic season of life.

Speaking of travel…  I ran across a great site (via) this morning entitled Sketchbooks by Enrique Flores.  I’m not quite sure who this guy is – primarily because his blog is written in Spanish…  But on his site, he was several sketchbooks that you can click on and journey through his sketchings documenting his travels all over the world.  It’s a unique and fun site.
