Easter 2011 at The Orchard!

Reflecting this morning on this past weekend’s beautiful Easter gatherings at The Orchard.  Loved the direction we took and how it all came together to create what I think was probably our most creative and artistic effort to date.  We took several risks this year and decided to journey people through Holy Week in about 65 minutes using several art forms such as: spoken word, painting, dance, readings, music, and video.

The overall theme was “ALL THINGS NEW” and it was broken down into three segments: All Is Right (Palm Sunday), All Is Lost (Good Friday), and All is New (Easter).  I’m planning to post several of the video pieces here in the next few days.  Stay tuned.

Here are a few photos.  While I suppose it comes across to some degree in the photos, I wish there was a way to truly capture what I believe happened in the hearts of everyone there.  So thankful…

Easter Prayer

Hallelujah, Christ is risen
You who are the gardener of the new creation,
Cultivate the new seeds that have sprung into life,
Bring growth, bring blossom, bring fruit,
May your new creation flourish in us, through us, around us,
So that all the world may say Christ is risen indeed Hallelujah.

A Holy Week Prayer

Apr 19, 2011

I thank you, Lord Jesus, for becoming a human being
so I do not have to pretend or try to be God.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for becoming finite and limited
so I do not have to pretend that I am infinite and limitless.
I thank you, crucified God, for becoming mortal
so I do not have to try to make myself immortal.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for becoming inferior
so I do not have to pretend that I am superior to anyone.
I thank you for being crucified outside the walls,
for being expelled and excluded like the sinners and outcasts,
so you can meet me where I feel that I am,
always outside the walls of worthiness.
