The Red Cup

Nov 9, 2005

Starbucks is rolling out their site again this year with some fun, interactive features.

There’s nothing like the unveiling of the red cup to signify the arrival of the Holiday season at Starbucks…  And, it turns out that people love the red cup.  In fact, when Starbucks has tried not using the red cup concept, their sales have softened and people have complained.

Here’s some more info about it by Paul Williams over at the Idea Sandbox Blog.

Yeah, the red cup makes it’s seasonal debut tomorrow at 530am when we kick off our holiday drinks and all that fun stuff. Our store is only 2 in the nation actually having real snow flown in for the occasion. All the media will be there not to mention far too many corporate suits. Should be a blast, real snow in Florida. Wonder how long it will last.

What a coincidence. I was in Starbucks today and I asked when their Christmas/Holiday blend of coffee comes out. The barista answered, “Tomorrow…it ALL starts tomorrow.” :)
Neat website. I found out that if I was a cookie I would be a gingersnap.

  6. Thanks for the link, Scott! I think the marketing team has done a great job this year with the promotion… I especially think it’s cool that they’re going to create snow drifts in ‘hot’ markets! Neat idea. – Paul, Idea Sandbox
