Theological Worldview

Folks, it’s official.  It turns out that my "theological worldview" is emergent/postmodern.  Now maybe I can get linked on those cool postmodern/Brian McLaren type sites.

It’s also interesting to me that I’m showing more of a bent towards Roman Catholicism than a Pentecostal/Charismatic style.  Who would’ve thought?

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern.

You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don’t think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

I always have fun completing quizzes/polls and it’s fun to compare results. How meaningful this one is . . . I don’t know. Probably as meaningful as the other quizzes listed on the site (What Body Part Are You Attracted To? What Disney Character Is Your Alter-Ego?). But, it’s a good conversation starter and makes you think about what you believe, if nothing else.

    I don’t think I understood all the questions…
    *********************************************************************
    You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan
You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God’s grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

    Charismatic…61%

    Reform Evang 43%
    Rom Cath 32%

  5. David Wegley says:

I forgot to copy my results but I was Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan and Emergent /Postmodern.
I believe the reason why my came up that way was because I was raised Southern Baptist and then went to a Charismatic/ Non-denominational church. Methodists are like have way inbetween those two. =)

  6. Betsy says:

I’m thinking because I answered “agree” to the “getting people saved is more important than social/political activism” questions, I came out this way. But some of the questions, like “the theology of so-and-so is very important”, I didn’t know how to answer. There should have been an “N/A” or something. Or “Duh?” would have worked, too.

    JUST KIDDING!

I think it’s more interesting to see the lower scoring ones. For example, I’m 18% Roman Catholic, but Scott you’re 43% even though we’re both Emergent/Postmodern. Makes me wonder how “surfacy” this poll is.

  10. dave says:

Well here is what they scored for me. It is funny that I was born and raised in a Penticostal church and still score like an evangelical. It must be because I listen to an evangelical radio station?

I don’t know how I got on this page, but I’m nearly a tie between Evangelical/Wesleyan (89%), and Emergent/Postmodern. I go to a Non-Denominational/Charismatic Church, yet scored 57% in that category. What? I don’t know who some of the theologians on the list are. Have a nice day!
